Katie Davis is the co-editor of Past Tense, and a PhD Candidate in History at the University of Toronto, where she is a Connaught International Scholar. Her dissertation, titled “The World Must Choose: Public Opinion, Atomic Monopoly, and the Illusion of International Control, 1945-1950,” examines the transformation of transatlantic atomic relations in the early Cold War. Her research focuses on the history of the United Nations Atomic Energy Commission and the relationship between public opinion and foreign policymaking. She also studies and teaches the history of modern Latin America.
Spirit Waite is the co-editor of Past Tense, and a third-year PhD Candidate at the University of Toronto, where she studies under the supervision of Nicholas Terpstra. Spirit’s research is focused on sixteenth and seventeenth century urban Italy, and explores the intersections between constructed (institutional) spaces, religious Reforms, the senses, and the body. In addition to working on the Editorial Team for Past Tense, Spirit is also a researcher on an online digital humanities project; DECIMA: the Digitally Encoded Census Information and Mapping Archive is a GIS mapping tool that enables researchers of early-modern Florence to explore the city.
Susan Colbourn is an associate editor of Past Tense, a Ph.D. Candidate in history at the University of Toronto, and a fellow at the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History. Her research interests include transatlantic relations, the Cold War, and nuclear history. Currently, she is researching NATO’s debates over détente in the 1970s and 1980s.
Erica Toffoli is an associate editor of Past Tense, and a Ph.D. Candidate in the History Department at the University of Toronto. Her work examines undocumented Latin American migration to the United States in the post-1965 period. Her research interests include 20th-century U.S. history, 20th-century Latin American history, visual culture and U.S.-Latin American relations.
